R.I.P. Ptolemy...

Our faithful car, Ptolemy, who faithfully transported us eleven thousand miles, all the way around the USA, 33 states in all, AND Mexico, has finally stopped going today. Thank you Ptolemy, for being such a trooper!!! We'll miss you!! Bumping over mountain roads to remote hikes, zipping along the freeway, rushing our girls to school...

The Ady family's form of transport for the next chapter of our lives shall be our bikes, and bike chariot, which the girls ride in, snug and dry! Seattle is hilly (and rainy), so we shall be fit (and wet!!) Her public transport system is nothing like that of Sydney, or London, or New York City, but there are buses handy, and the girls LOVE riding the bus!!!! It's often a bigger treat than the supposedly exciting destination!!!

yay about your bike sam! but be careful! i remember when you fell off, on various occasions, being very worried about you! gosh, i'm such an oldest child!!

justin, it doesn't get as cold here as NY, but it rains, constantly, very cold rain... i have an aussie rain coat - you know those bush ranger green ones?

I no longer have my car - it also expired - so I bought a shopping trolley, and am saving the planet that way.

i used to just 'borrow' shopping trolleys, in parramatta! it's very admirable, mum, to have bought one ... ohhh - my morning sojourn is ending - the girls are awake! so gorgeous!

Lymphoma, Stage Four

Today,  I am sitting on the hardwood  floor, in our lounge room. My body feels pretty normal. My neck aches a little,  my tummy is full of dinner, my mouth tastes nicely, of the drink I just gulped. I am weary from a day of work, and the transition of coming home to my beautiful, energetic, noisy children. Benjamin is cycling home in the darkness. I am always happier when everyone is safely home. My biggest fear is one of my loved ones dying. Oh,  and I have lymphoma, stage four. What does this  even  mean? I'm just me. Mortal, but that is in  the one-day-far-away category, isn't  it? The doctor, bizarrely, told me there are a lot of little lymphomae, tripping around  my lymph system, like jiggling jelly-fish in a warm sea. Some of them have twisted all together, left of my belly-button, and I can feel them. An 8cm x 5cm mobile mass, says the computerised tomography report.
