Nana died tonight. I am sad and can't sleep, so i lit this fire and am snuggled by it, beneath starlight and moonlight.

Dear Nana is very close to the end of her life. She has said so many beautiful and comforting things recently - she's invited Eowyn, Coco, Kat and me to an 'Ady Ladies' Tea Party' in heaven. She told me I was love personified these last months. And she's been amazingly kind and understanding about how hard it was for me to adapt to life in the USA initially. She said "You must have not wanted to hear another thing about America!" It's been a real time of reconciliation and love between us.

Bens is on his way out now - he wanted to go alone, and be with his family. He has taken his academic garb to don for her, as it seems she won't be able to be at his graduation ceremony on Saturday. Dear Bens. His last exam was today, so he's a graduand.

Thank you all for your love and prayers and kindness to us,

Love Megs

The claypools on the Skykomish River are a favourite haunt of mine. I love the wild, clean mountain air, the distant snowy peaks and the texture of clay on skin. And plunging into the icy cold water is so very refreshing. Bens and I, some summers, have ridden on tyre tubes from the claypools downriver to Ady Acres, Bens' parents home, which is one road mile and about three winding river miles away.

Our lives are at a point of transition now. Bens graduates (magna cum laude, as did his wife!) on Saturday, and has a myriad professional possibilities ahead of him. His dear Mom, Sue, despite ailing health is hoping to attend the ceremony. Eowyn graduates from Kindergarten on Tuesday, leaving the EEU, a school which has been a place of security, challenge, excitement and constancy for her preschool and Kindergarten years. Tomorrow I'm joining Coco's class on a field trip to a playground. She's enrolled in Pre-K at the EEU for September, and Eowyn in first grade at Wedgwood…
