There is a colony of little faerie penguins out on St Kilda breakwater. Last night, we Ady Ladies biked and scooted out, and saw a dozen dear little penguins. They reminded me of fiddly, vague old ladies, fossicking through their purses looking for their lipstick. Very sweet. We lived near the beaver pond in Meadowbrook - now we live near the penguin beach in St Kilda. When you visit us, we'll take you to see them!
I met Kate in Necochea, Argentina 11 years ago, and the last time I saw her in Constantinople (!), Turkey 9 1/2 years ago, until this morning, in the darkness of dawn, a crescent moon and the Southern Cross in the sky, at Brighton Beach! It was SOOOO good to reconnect!!!!
...is a lovely element of my return to Oz. These friends are Mim and Kath Argall, whom I met when I moved to Sydney, aged 17! I have been feeling very homesick for dear Seattle friends again.
Meet 'Kiki', Eowyn's lovebird! She is Eowyn's EIGHTH birthday present! (Bens pronounces eighth 'aith', which I find somewhat amusing!) I had a budgerigar named Kiki, from when I was 7 until when I was 15. It is so sweet that Eowyn knows that, and chose the name Kiki too!! I do hope Kiki can cope with the highly energetic love the girls are bestowing upon her! We are praying for you, Baker Street Joneses, as you move today! Big transition! Enjoy that back garden!!!!!!!!
Coco is in 'Prep', which in the US would be named Kindergarten, and has Wednesdays off for term 1, which in the US would be called fall quarter. We get to have fun Coco and Mummy days together, which is really lovely. She is such a delightful person, and I fear that sometimes I don't pay her much attention, in the chaos of day-to-day life. I think perhaps that I don't pay anybody the attention they deserve. I would like to pay people more such attention. It is as if my default mode is just not paying attention. How does one alter one's default mode??!
